The purpose of our study was to find out the type of diet most healthy people who maintain a normal body weight eat. It was NOT to find out the most effective to reduce obesity. Frank Sacks and colleagues reported earlier this year in a clinical trial that high and low carbohydrate were equally effective in bringing about maintaining weight loss if total energy intake was the same. However, it is harder to maintain a diet that is either very high or very low in carbohydrate. Our results need to be interpreted in this context.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have after you have read the study.
